About Us
Lafayette Crew is a club sport at Lafayette College, located in Easton, Pennsylvania. Our boathouse is located on the Lehigh River, about a mile from Lafayette’s Campus. The team competes during both the spring and fall seasons on rivers throughout the Northeast, including the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA, the Cooper River in Camden, NJ, and Mercer Lake near Princeton, NJ.

Practice
Practice is held on the Lehigh River for both our fall and spring seasons. The team practices Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 PM. During the winter when river practice is not possible, team members train at Kirby Sports Center on the college campus, utilizing weight-training equipment as well as an entire room dedicated to ergometers. Team erg practices are held throughout the winter season in the team’s erg room.

Spring Break
Every spring break, the team travels to Deland, Florida and trains for a week on Lake Beresford using Stetson University’s dock facilities. Practices are held twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. In the middle of the week, one day is designated for morning practice only, and the team travels to a location of choice for a relaxing, practice-free afternoon (usually Daytona Beach). Breakfast and dinner are eaten daily at the Stetson University cafeteria. To learn more about Stetson’s facilities, visit the Stetson University crew website

Regattas
Lafayette Crew competes during both the fall and spring seasons. In the fall, we typically compete in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta (Philadelphia, PA). The team also competes at the Frostbite Regatta, a sprint race held on the Cooper River in Camden, NJ. In the spring, we typically compete at the Murphy Cup Regatta (Philadelphia, PA), Knecht Cup (Camden, NJ), River Cup (Allentown, PA), and the Dad Vail Regatta (Philadelphia, PA). For more information regarding driving directions and exact dates for these regattas, check out the schedule section.

Coxswains
Aside from rowers, Lafayette Crew is always looking for more coxswains. Rowers mean very little without great coxswains. If you’re enthusiastic and have a passion for motivation, try coxing! Coxswains are frequently termed the “mind of the boat” for good reason: they steer the boat and give valuable commands to the rowers. On and off the water, coxswains carry with them an unmatched requirement of respect and responsibility.
